ABOUT

Couples can lose their way – and become disconnected.

I help couples and individuals heal from the emotional wounds of their past and get their lives and relationships back on track. My clients are focused and highly driven people who want their emotional, psychological, and relational lives to catch up with the success they have in other parts of their lives.

As a marriage and family therapist, I help couples connect more deeply, manage conflict, and understand each other so that they can have the intimacy they really want.

Men are often challenged by expressing emotions.

One of the ways I help couples connect is to help men that aren’t particularly emotional express thoughts and feelings that are sometimes difficult to disclose to their partners.

Simultaneously, I help female partners understand why their male partners often shut down or retreat emotionally and how to engage so that their own needs for connection and intimacy are met.

By expressing and understanding each other’s emotions, you’ll both become more proficient at being able to see, value, and prioritize each other.

ABOUT ME

As a Mental Health Practitioner, I’m passionate about de-stigmatizing therapy for men and in the African-American community. Many people believe that seeking therapy is a sign of weakness or severe mental impairment. The truth is, therapy can be a useful tool to manage conflict, overcome traumatic circumstances, and improve relationship satisfaction. I travel around the country speaking in conferences, churches, and to men’s groups educating people about mental health and its role in overall well-being.

My first career was as a musician. In the first five years after college, I traveled throughout Western Europe performing in jazz clubs, churches, and concert halls. I’m a little rusty these days, but I still enjoy playing the piano and singing.

I spent 16 years in pastoral ministry. During that time, I discovered counseling was the best part of my work. In light of that discovery, I chose to become a psychotherapist and do the work of healing through talk therapy.

I have a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy and am trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.

I’m an avid Netflix consumer who’s always looking for a series to watch. My favorites right now are Ozark and Black Mirror.
